Iron County Housing COmmission (ICHC)
Program Overview
ICHC currently offers Public Housing when availability and the wait list is open.ICHC now offers single-bedroom apartments at its locations.
ICHC also offers the Section 8 Voucher Program.
The voucher program is federally funded through HUD. The goal is to assist low-income families in affording decent, safe, and sanitary housing.
Families that apply with ICHC and complete the briefing will be issued a voucher with a deadline to lease up but do hold the right to request an extension.
Once a family is issued a voucher, they are responsible for finding a rental with a landlord willing to rent under program standards.
A lease is required, along with proof of ownership and a completed, passing inspection.
Once this is completed, a subsidy is provided in check form directly to the landlord on behalf of the family. The family may be responsible for a portion of the rent and/or utilities based on program calculations.
Tenant Responsibilities
ICHC strives to assist each family’s needs and requests.
However, staff and rental availability are limited.
All tenants, once leased, are required to:
- Notify ICHC of any changes to family household composition or income.
- Meet program requirements and respond to all ICHC notices as required.
If you have any questions, please contact the ICHC office immediately.
